We work for a world

GRCF is a Non-Governmental, Non-Profit Organization established in 2015.
It consists of a multi-disciplinary team of health, environmentalists, social science and researchers working together to improve the lives of women in Nigeria through:

  • Research into determinant of cancers and reproductive health challenges,
  • Advocacy on the right of women to be protected from non-communicable diseases,
  • Cancer Prevention Outreach programs (awareness creation, screening and treatment for precancerous cervical and breast lesions)
  • Training of health workers on cancer prevention programs and medical outreaches
  • Provide support for cancer patients.
  • Database creation to ensure women are reminded through SMS/e mails on the next screening appointment.

Awareness for FIRS Staff

25-26 Jun Transcorp Hilton, Abuja

Gynae Care Foundation Prostate and Cervical Cancer Awareness and Screening for FIRS Management Staff at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja on 25/26 June, 2015.

Training for Corp Members

5 Sept 2015 Abuja

Training session for 15 medical Corp members on HPV, via and cryotherapy on 4th and 5th September, 2015 organised by Gynae care research and cancer foundation, Abuja.

Screening for Catholic Knights

17 Oct 2015 Jahi, Abuja

Cervical, Breast and Prostate cancer awareness and screening program for a group of catholic knights and ladies at Jahi, Abuja on the 17th of October, 2015. 25 men were screened for prostate cancer [PSA] and 40 women had cervical and breast screening.

The ovaries are part of a woman's reproductive system and produce the female hormones estrogen and progesterone. They also release eggs which are needed for fertilization for formation of a baby.

Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is the most common cause of cancer in women worldwide and the commonest cause of cancer death in women in Nigeria between the ages of 45 and 55. Majority of women diagnosed present in advanced stages of the disease. This is due to poor awareness about the disease and the fact that most women do not perform monthly breast examinations or go for breast screening via Ultrasound scan or mammogram.

Cervical Cancer

 

Cancer occurs when abnormal cells in the body begins to grow without any control. This usually results in formation of a swelling [tumor].The resultant effect is that the particular function of that part of the body is lost

These abnormal cells can spreads from its original place to another part of the body [metastasis].
